The designer, who dropped out of high school, became fascinated with women’s shoes while traveling the world and decided that he could transform the women’s footwear industry with beautiful shoes that highlight a long, beautiful female leg. Many of Christian Louboutin’s shoes do, in fact, have heels greater than four and a half inches.
While a standard pair of shoes can average in the hundreds of dollars, Christian Louboutin makes custom shoes for private clients that cost into the thousands. He recently began designing handbags as well, and a men’s shoe collection.
