Perhaps the most well-known and revered name in all of fashion is Chanel, named after the original founder and designer, Coco Chanel. Coco Chanel herself was a revolutionary, completely altering the look of women’s fashion at the beginning of the twentieth century. She did away with uncomfortable, decorated clothing and worked with jersey, a comfortable fabric that flatters the figure in a simple way that was not traditional at the time. Other innovations were the little black dress, the Chanel suit, and the Chanel trademark perfumes.
Today, Chanel is a vast empire producing large collections of ready to wear, shoes, accessories, jewelry, handbags, eyewear and haute couture and the head designer is Karl Lagerfeld.
