Empire Strikes Back: Cookie’s Style
Great female television characters, truly great TV characters are few and far between. With the barrage of scripted, sensationalized and train wreck reality TV viewers had fallen into the abyss of watching embarrassing TV. Until now, meet Loretta Cookie Lyon. The resident diva and villainess of Empire, a music industry series following career clawing musicians and executives with some of the best-executed fashion looks since SATC (please don’t make us spell it out for you).
The second season of Empire struck back this September and has left us mavens hungry for more delectable Cookie. Actress Taraji P. Henson struts Cookie’s sexy stuff in plunging v-neck gowns, bandage-esque dresses, kaftans with sequins, rhinestones, bling, lamé, and plenty of animal prints. Add in oversized sunglasses, a fur coat or two along with garter belts and more attitude than a high school cheerleading squad and you’ve nailed “Cookie’s nookie”. Shopping discretion advised.
