Sophie Hulme has always marched to her own creative beat. After graduating from Kingston University in 2007, she launched her inaugural ready-to-wear collection instead of apprenticing under an established fashion house first. “I did consider working for someone else and I had a couple of offers,” said Hulme. “However, I felt that it would be much harder to leave a steady job than to start a business, whereas at the time, I didn’t have anything to lose, so it was easier to take a risk.”
Hulme switched gears to accessories and the risk immediately paid off.
