Paris F/W 2014 Fashion Trends
Call it a certain je ne sais quoi, call it a fashion epiphany, call it what you want, but it must be said – Paris Fashion Week ended all of Fashion Month with a bang. Maybe that’s because Karl Lagerfeld allowed Chanel to open a grocery store or perhaps it’s because Hedi Slimane opted for Saint Laurent to dip into the mod 60’s movement. Or it could be that practically every designer thought it was best for their shows to feature an explosion of knitwear. No matter the reason, we fell fast and hard for the myriad of trends Paris Fashion Week presented to us. Fall 2014 can’t get here soon enough.
Novelty Knitwear – Finally, winter warmers we can all be ecstatic about. Cozy, plush knitwear just got a whole lot cooler thanks in part to the quirky patterns, graphic prints, ribbed textures and expert styling of Sacai, Isabel Marant, Kenzo, Stella McCartney and Dries Van Noten. Bonus tip – don’t be afraid to layer it up head-to-toe in knits.
The Mod Squad – Micro-mini shift dresses, vibrant hued A-line coats, knee high boots, oversized retro polka dots and high neck tops pointed in the direction of 60’s mod meets 2014 mod.
Working Girl – From the looks of the countless shows featuring the new power jacket – perfectly tailored blazers, masculine inspired duster coats and sleeveless “bar” jackets a la Dior, it appears our workwear wardrobe is going to be incredibly chic, sophisticated and formidable come fall.
