#NYFW Get the Look: Kendall, Karlie and Gigi’s Lovely Loose Waves

get the look

Fashion Week favorites Kendall Jenner, Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid rocked some sweet, 70s-inspired curls on the DVF runway, all to complement the designer’s retro-glam wrap dresses and flirty, floor-length gowns.

Big, bouncy waves like these are fairly easy to achieve—the trick is to use a bodybuilding shampoo and conditioner before styling, and to finish off with a few spritzes of a lightweight curl enhancing mist. Here’s how:

Bumble

1. Cleanse and Condition

Wash your hair with a bodybuilding shampoo that also adds texture, such as Bumble & Bumble Surf Foam Wash Shampoo ($29). Follow with Bumble & Bumble Surf Crème Rinse Conditioner, ($32). Comb through and leave in for at least two minutes before rinsing clean.

Curlers

2. Define and Twist

Towel dry your hair with a t-shirt or microfiber cloth (using a terrycloth towel can create extra frizz and tangles), then separate into two-inch wide sections. Saturate each section with curl defining cream—we like Bumble & Bumble

Curl Conscious Defining Crème ($36) twist them into buns and secure with hair pins. (You can also use curlers if you prefer, however steer clear of hot rollers—those should never be used on wet hair.)

Bumble Curl

3. Brush Through and Spritz

Blow dry each bun using a diffuser, or let your hair air dry. Once your whole head is completely dry, unravel each bun carefully, gently shaking out any knots or tangles. Use a soft bristled brush to brush through the curls, then spritz them thoroughly with a curl activating mist like Bumble & Bumble Curl Conscious Reactivating Mist ($32), making sure to avoid the roots and top of head.

Philip

4. Tease and Set

Tease the roots just a touch if needed, or spray them with a volumizer like Philip B Self Adjusting Hair Spray ($31). Set with another spritz all over, and you’re good to go!
