6 Easy Steps to a Beach-Ready Pedi
We put our feet through a lot during the winter, but luckily they’re covered up pretty well. However now that summer is here, there’s no hiding uneven toenails and cracked calluses. It’s time to shed those socks, pamper your tootsies and give yourself a beach-ready pedi. Then slip on your flip flops and hit the sand! Here’s what you’ll need to do it at home.
1. Softening Foot Soak. Begin by treating your feet to a warm, relaxing bath with The Body Shop’s Peppermint Reviving Foot Soak ($16), which draws out impurities and softens skin so it’s easier to slough off calluses.
2. Heavy-Duty Scrub. Next, use The Body Shop’s Peppermint Cooling Pumice Stone Scrub ($14) to thoroughly exfoliate. Pay special attention to the hells, soles and balls of the feet.
3. Callus Remover or Sole Buffer. The Emjoi Micro-Pedi Callus Remover ($40) is an awesome device for removing super stubborn calluses and/or rough spots. If that seems to scary, keep it simple rub the bottoms of your feet vigorously with Sephora’s A Step Ahead Foot Smoother ($12).
4. Moisturizing Foot Cream. Slather your soles with a rich lotion formulated especially for the feet, like L’Occitane Shea Butter Foot Cream ($28).
5. Nail Clipper and File. Sephora’s Travel Tips Mini Mani Kit has everything you need to prep and shape your nails, including an angled toenail clipper, a cuticle pusher and a sapphire nail file.
6. Base Coat and Polish. Always apply a base coat first to prevent your toenails from yellowing. Then add your polish of choice, followed by a top coat, and you’re ready to hit the beach!
Tip: Keep a pack of DHC’s Body Cleansing Sheets on-hand to wipe off any lotion left on your toenails before you apply your polish.
