Fall / Winter Fashion Week 2015 Trends – Milan Edition

Milan

Milan Fashion Week.  What a week!  You’d think by the time Milan rolls around, fashion fatigue might have settled in and nothing would shock us.  But the third city in the line-up always manages to put on quite a show.  Whether it was mothers taking center stage at Dolce & Gabbana or Alessandro Michele’s menswear inspired debut of his first collection for Gucci or Peter Dundas’ beautifully curated final bow at Pucci, MFW, once again, showed off all the hallmarks of the glamour and sexiness we’ve come know and love about the Italian fashion capital.  Here’s a few of the mega trends we can’t wait to get our hands on for fall.

His and Hers – There’s something to be said about the androgynous chic looks that were sent down the Gucci runway.  They posses that perfect balance of librarian cool and subtle sex appeal, all tempered with a menswear vibe.  The combination of Victorian-esque blouses with pussy bows mixed with low slung menswear trousers and pleated midi skirts dove head first into Michele’s modernized Gucci woman.

She’s Got a New Attitude – It can be easily concluded – the sensuality of the feminine form doesn’t need to be so obvious. We saw the runways brimming with new iterations of hyper sexiness that prove for fall subtly is key – Girlish separates and evening wear, nearly shoulder high gloves, supersized waist slimming belts, strikingly colorful over-the-knee boots, high neck tied up tops, waistline ruffled accents and touchably soft luxurious fabrics.

Vested Interest – We can go far back in time to all the moments when sweater vests were a serious fashion faux pas, but our nostalgic love for them has risen once again thanks to MSGM, Bottega Veneta and Gucci.  Fitted, cropped, accented with a deeper-v or shown in a vibrant ladylike color, it may be preposterous to think that this knitwear piece can be considered sexy and sophisticated, but pair it with an ultra feminine top and skirt and you’ll be singing its praises right alongside us as well.

Patchwork Point – We took a trip back in time and stepped into our high school geometry class at MFW.  Patchworked and color blocked patterns and shapes took form on everything from lush fur coats to wide legged pants to evening dresses. Even accessories like ankle booties and handbags were treated with linear segments and blocked motifs.
