2015 Academy Awards – The Oscars Best Dressed List
While we all love the Oscars, we’re really in it for the fashion. Because being the consummate die hard fashion-loving fans we are, we geek out more at the red carpet arrivals than at the winners circle. Yes, Julianne Moore’s speech was moving and who could ignore Patricia Arquette’s women’s movement declaration? But did you see jaws dropping when Lupita stepped onto the red carpet? Or what about how stunningly beautiful Reese Witherspoon looked? And Margot Robbie’s sheer black Saint Laurent was equal parts new and old Hollywood. Those are the moments we gather ‘round the water cooler the next morning to gab about because we can’t help but be so positively enamored with these leading ladies. Here’s our round-up of the night’s best dressed.
Reese Witherspoon – She may have starred in Wild, but her look sang old Hollywood glamour. Donning the famed red carpet duo – black and white, America’s sweetheart looked demure and elegant in her off-the-shoulder Tom Ford gown.
Jennifer Aniston – The nude beaded one shoulder Atelier Versace. The perfectly placed side slit. The soft tousled waves and minimal make-up. The simple, but classy strappy heel. From head to toe, Jennifer Aniston was quite possibly one of the most flawless looks of the evening.
Rosamund Pike – The strikingly glamorous, scalloped edged, lace crimson Givenchy gown the Gone Girl actress wore hugged her in the all the right places and the front thigh-high slit was the icing on the cake.
Lupita Nyong’o – 6,000 pearls! Six thousand pearls! That’s how many it took to fashion this spectacularly divine Calvin Klein creation from no other than Francisco Costa. This one is for the books.
Naomi Watts – The gorgeous Australian showed us that an Oscars look can be both sophisticated and au-courant without feeling too gimmicky. Her black and silver, high neck Armani Privé dress, punctuated with a bandeau bra nonetheless, set the bar high for daring red carpet fashionistas in the future.
Jenna Dewan-Tatum – We almost didn’t see her in the midst of all the other nominees and presenters, but make no mistake, we’re head over heels for her belted Zuhair Murad dress that features just the right amount of crystals and trimmings to make it totally unforgettable.
Margot Robbie – Usually an all black ensemble can be tossed aside as playing it safe, but not this Saint Laurent number Margot Robbie wore. Dipping low and decorated with a vintage necklace, she was simultaneously sexy and sleek.
Julianne Moore – It’s the intricate details adorning the Still Alice Oscar winner’s Chanel Haute Couture dress that had us swooning. 80,000 hand-sewn sequins and delicate floral embroidery had all the makings of a gown only worthy of the Oscars red carpet.
Jennifer Lopez – J. Lo’s Elie Saab Couture dress was a definitive princess moment Sunday night. The neutral toned hue perfectly complemented the larger-than-life poufy silhouette and the oh-so-shiny sparkling embellishments.
Emma Stone – We all know by now, Emma Stone knows a thing or two about fashion. A point she proved once again in this extravagantly beaded, low back, long sleeve chartreuse Elie Saab gown.
