Our Favorite Beauty Trends from 2014 Fall/Winter Runways
From Versace to Dior, chunky strips of wing-tipped color were all over the 2014 Fall Runway. These hefty cat eyes are easy to create—apply a primer to your lids, establish the shape (and fill it in) with a colored liner pencil, then use a precision-tipped liquid liner to carefully color over it. Add two coats of mascara to finish off the look.
Gucci, Prada, Saint Laurent and Rochas all gave their runway gals heavy eyelashes. Use a volume-building mascara, starting right at the lash root and wiggling the wand as you work you way up, to get an equally thick effect.
Twinkling shades surrounded many a model’s eyes and cheeks, giving them extra sparkle with each step. Designers including Donna Karan and Dior embraced the look. Try using Stila’s Magnificent Metals Foil Finish for a similar metallic shine.
Braids were all over the runway, from thick formations at the back of the head to styles pulled up front across the forehead. Creating them is simple, and keeping them put just requires generous amounts of serious-hold hairspray.
Over at Dolce & Gabbana and Jason Wu, fresh, dewy dewy faces ruled the runway. The trick to this look is making sure that skin doesn’t look oily—use an illuminator or an illuminating moisturizer under your foundation, and touch up lightly with a mineral powder when needed.
