April Showers: 3 Rainy-Day Beauty Tips
1. Close the Cuticle
Frizz is no fun, and no matter what kind of hair you have — curly or straight, fine or thick — humid weather almost always creates serious chaos. The key to avoiding frizz is to seal the hair’s cuticle before it’s exposed to moisture. Rinsing with cold water after you shampoo and condition is one way to do this. You can also apply a leave-in conditioner, like Ouidad Moisture Lock Leave-In Conditioner, you’re air-drying your hair, or a silicone-based styling product like Alterna Caviar Ultra-Straight & Smooth Blowout Crème if you’re blow drying.
2. Waterproof Your Lids and Lashes
It may sound like a no-brainer, but it’s easy to forget how crucial waterproof makeup is — especially around your eyes. We love Stila’s Stay Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner (which is available in 15 shades!) and Stay All Day Waterproof Volumizing Mascara. Both have excellent no-budge formulas that are highly resistant to humidity.
3. Ditch the Powder
Cream powders, bronzers, and blushes can be your best friend during soggy, damp days. Powders tend to streak when they get wet, but cream formulas blend right into the skin, giving dewy complexions a natural-looking flush. Start with a light layer of BB cream for coverage, then apply a cream blush (Sephora’s Double Contouring Cream Blush) or bronzer (Stila’s Convertible Color Bronzing Duo) onto the applies of your cheeks. In a pinch, you can also add a few dots of lipstick to your cheeks and blend with your fingertips.
