Fall/Winter Fashion Week 2015 Trends – London Edition
There’s nothing quite like London. From posh afternoon teas to grungier east side art galleries, the wonder and awe of London is uniquely diverse and yet simultaneously in sync. Although designers embraced similar prints (retro throwbacks to wallpaper was a surprise), colors (the bolder the better never seemed so appropriate) and decades (the 70s shows no sign of slowing down!), each collection captures its own individuality and perspective. While we saw more bohemian influence on the Burberry and Matthew Williamson catwalks with fringed capes, long flowy maxis and layered looks showcasing patchwork and lace details, Mary Katrantzou, Erdem and Jonathan Saunders adorned their runways with trickles of modernized shift dresses, inexplicably cool patterns, out of this world color schemes and fluffed out coats. That variety that comes from London Fashion Week enables us to customize the currently loved 70s trends for our own personal tastes and style.

The Woven Ones – Heavily decorated turtlenecks showed up on practically every catwalk. Look to Erdem for elegant evening options, Markus Lupfer for weekend practicality and Peter Pilotto for eclectic shapes and designs.

Wonky Wallpaper – Toto, we’re not in grandma’s basement anymore. Those weird and quirky wallpaper prints you loathed from childhood just received the coolest and freshest reboot. The major focus this LFW was Victorian influences, bohemian motifs, jacquard styles and upholstery inspired prints. It may seem strange, but trust that you’ll fall in love with this new wave of decoration just like we did.

The Importance of Being Colorful – Yeah, yeah, yeah, color is in. You swear this is the case every time, but hear us out. Vibrant, borderline neon shades of pinks, purples, blues, greens, oranges and yellows were featured on every sweater, jacket, dress, trouser, shoe, boot and handbag. And don’t even get us started on all the prints and patterns. That translates to A/W trends bidding adieu to darker fall colors and totally welcoming the bold and the downright colorful.

Fluff the Magic Jacket – Furry, fluffy and fuzzy – the only three words to describe the influx of outwear seen on the runways. From the faux fur trimmings at Holly Fulton to Mongolian shag at House of Holland, it’s pretty clear what the fashion flock will stay warm and cozy in next fall.
