Chloe is an important French design house that was originally started by designer Gaby Aghion, who arrived in Paris from Alexandria, Egypt. She went against the prototypical design philosophies of haute couture, which was all made to measure until her time, and invented the idea and coined the phrase “pret-a-porter,” which means ready to wear. This brought high fashion and its beautifully made clothing to the masses, who couldn’t afford haute couture, for the first time.
Chloe has passed through several designers and is currently designed by Clare Waight Keller. It continues to be a sought after line of clothing, handbags, accessories and perfumes sold in Chloe boutiques across the world.
